Premature ejaculation (PE) is a condition in which ejaculation occurs before or immediately after penetration during sexual intercourse. It is one of the common male sexual problems. According to an estimate, at least one among three men in the world under the age group of 18 to 59 years experiences premature ejaculation (PE). Men diagnosed with PE tend to be stressed, anxious, embarrassed and depressed. Training regarding the time of ejaculation and reassurance from a doctor can help treat PE.

According to Ayurveda, aggravated vata is the major causative factor of PE, hence it is also called shukragata vata in Ayurveda. Panchakarma (five therapies) methods of virechana (purgation), basti (enema), pizhichil (oil massage) and snehapana (consuming oil or ghee) are helpful in improving sexual health and treating PE. Herbs like ashwagandha (Indian ginseng) and jatiphala (nutmeg) are used along with Ayurvedic formulations like narsimha churna to improve reproductive health and manage PE symptoms.
Eating fresh vegetables and fruits, quitting alcohol and smoking, reducing or avoiding consumption of white flour or white sugar and making other lifestyle changes can help improve PE symptoms as well as overall health significantly.
