Yes, Fortstar may cause a seizure. It has been reported by the patient who is taking this drug. So you are advised to take this medicine on doctor advice only and also inform your doctor if you already suffer from seizures before taking this medicine.
Fortstar contains pentazocine which is an opioid analgesic (pain-killer). It is presumed that pentazocine provides relief from pain by binding to certain receptors (mu-opioid receptors) in our brain and by preventing the reuptake of chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) serotonin and norepinephrine. In this way Fortstar provides relief to the patient from moderate to severe pain.
Yes, Fortstar can be used to provide relief from toothache (dental pain) because it contains pentazocine which is a pain-killer. It is only used if other pain-killer medications such as NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) cannot be given due to some complications. Since it is a prescription drug and also a habit-forming drug you are advised, not to take it by yourself.
Rarely, Fortstar causes dry mouth because it decreases the saliva secretion in your mouth. It is an uncommon side effect of this drug. If you experience excessive dry mouth after taking this drug, keep yourself well hydrated with juices, shakes and plenty of water.
