Yes, Phyte can sometimes affect the liver by increasing the secretion of liver enzymes which can damage the liver cells. Rare cases of serious hepatotoxicity (liver damage), including liver failure have been reported. Hence a routine liver function test should be conducted when taking this drug for a long time.
