Yes, Cefter can treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections (infection of the urinary system caused by bacteria Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae). It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). The cell wall protects the bacteria from the environment, in the absence of this cell wall, the bacteria becomes vulnerable and dies.
No, Cefter is not recommended for the tooth infection. Hence, it should not be taken for the treatment of tooth infection.
No, Cefter does not contain penicillin or sulfa. It contains cefalexin which belongs to the class of drug known as cephalosporins. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which covers a wide range of bacteria which are generally found to be resistant to penicillin.
Take Cefter as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Do not take this medicine longer than prescribed to avoid bacterial resistance and unpleasant side effects.
