Inotad contains Irinotecan, a chemotherapy drug used primarily in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. It belongs to a class of medications known as topoisomerase I inhibitors.

Mechanism of Action
Irinotecan works by inhibiting the topoisomerase I enzyme, which is essential for DNA replication. This inhibition leads to DNA strand breaks and ultimately results in cancer cell death.
Uses
Treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (often in combination with other drugs)
Sometimes used for other cancers as determined by a healthcare provider
Dosage and Administration
The dosage depends on the patient’s condition, body surface area (BSA), and treatment regimen.
It is administered as an intravenous infusion.
Common Dosage Regimen
Monotherapy: 350 mg/m² every 3 weeks
Combination Therapy: 180 mg/m² every 2 weeks with fluorouracil and leucovorin
Onset of Action
Initial response to therapy can be observed within 2-3 weeks.
Duration of Action
The half-life of Irinotecan is approximately 6-12 hours.
Side Effects
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
Serious: Severe neutropenia, dehydration, allergic reactions
Precautions
Avoid use in patients with severe liver impairment.
Patients should be monitored for severe diarrhea and dehydration.
Caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
