Irilieva contains Irinotecan, a chemotherapy drug used primarily in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. It belongs to a class of medications known as topoisomerase I inhibitors.

Mechanism of Action

Dosage and Administration

Common Dosage Regimen

• Combination Therapy: 180 mg/m² every 2 weeks with fluorouracil and leucovorin

Duration of Action

• The half-life of Irinotecan is approximately 6-12 hours.

Side Effects

• Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain

• Serious: Severe neutropenia, dehydration, allergic reactions

Precautions

• Avoid use in patients with severe liver impairment.

• Patients should be monitored for severe diarrhea and dehydration.
